MAKAR SAKRANTI (14th JANUARY)
Makar Sakranti is the only festival in India which falls on 14th January every year without variation. When the sun touches the tropic of cancer, Sakranti takes place and calendar is calculated according to the motion of the sun. Thus Makar Sakranti and Solar year (saur Varsh) is based on sun and start according to the English calendar on 14th Jan. On the other hand other dates are guided by the motion of the moon. That is why Makar Sakranti is the best time for the Surya Saadhna (Surya rituals). So let's start the instant effective rituals on this auspicious occasion.
In India every festival is celebrated with devotion and happiness at times. Festivals are the mirror of the culture and civilization of a country.
Makar Sakranti is celebrated in Magha (January) Krushna Paksha, Pratipada every year. The sun's entering from one zodiac to the other zodiac is known as Sakranti.
The sun's going to the cancer zodiac is known as Makar Sakranti.
According to our scriptures offering things to the needy/helpless, repeating the holy mantras, meditations and ceremonies, have great importance. Offering done this day returns in hundred fold to the giver. This festival is celebrated every where in India. The rituals of this festival help to get rid of the influence of cough and cold. Sesame has vital importance on this festival. To eat sesame and distribute it is considered very importance. To avoid the effect of cough and cold it is better to eat sesame and its oil. To bathe by the sesame mixed water, to eat sesame, to apply its paste on the body, to sacrifice it to the fire and give it to others destroy all sins. So people do this ritual on this day.
On this day one should observe rituals and offer things. One should offer sesame, wheat, black clothes (cloth) and offer food to the hungry.
The sun is gives us energy, lustre, keeps our bones, eyes in good health and provides calcium to our body. It also gives us self reliance and attention to the mind and frees us from obstacles. Those who are weak, headache, problem concerning to the hair, problem in shoulders and legs and deficiency of blood and hemoglobin must worship sun god and offer water and they should observe the sun Saadhna (rituals).
The man, whose sun is wear, lacks in self confidence. The sun gives position, power, possession, leadership. The sun only is the hand of all the stars. Only the sun gives you a towering personage. Why a man reaches the summit of progress while other holds on the bottom only?
The only difference is due to the sun element contained in the man's body. The Substantiality of the Makar Sakranti is the Sun only.
!! SURYA SAADHNA !!
Saadhna Saamagri (articles): Tantrokta Aadityamani, Silver Surya Kawach, Bhojpatra, Pomegranate pen, Ashtagandha.
Method of rituals (Saadhna): In the morning take a copper pot and fill it with fresh water, put Kumkum (Vermillion) Mauli (red thread), red flower and offer these things to the repeating the mantra OM GRUNI SURYAY NAMAHA.
You have to perform this on Makar Sakranti. It can be done from sunrise till sunset. Sit facing east, place a Bajot (wooden seat) before you, spread a white cotton cloth over it. If you have your horoscope, see where the sun is seated. Make small mounds of wheat as many as the no of the sun's sitting place. If there is no horoscope make seven mounds of wheat on the seat. Then place the dish of Kansya/Silver on the mounds. Make Ashtadal in the dish from Ashtagandha. Then burn a lamp of oil on the left and a ghee lamp on the right of the Bajot (seat).
Then take some Ashtagandha, mix some Gangajal and prepare ink (Solution) and make the following yantra with the pomegranate pen.

After making the instruments place the Bhojpatra (birch). On birch establish Tantroktha Aadityamani and Surya Kawach and then repeat this Mantra according to the situation of the sun in your horoscope and if you have no horoscope repeat seven repeatation of the rosary.
MANTRA:- ''OM HRANG HRING HRAUNG SAH SURYAY NAMAH"
After completion of the surya mantra join the Tantrokta Aadityamani to the Surya kawach and paste the Kawach and attach them to a red thread and wear round your neck. Then touch the feet of your parents and offer Til ka Laddu and if possible offer wheat equal to your weight.
!! SHANI SHANTI PRAYOG !!
Shani is sun's son and Makar Sakranti is the biggest festival of the sun. So to worship shani along with the sun will rid of all problems of life.
May be deity or man, once he is sure to face Shani. The sun stays at a zodiac for one month, the moon for 2¼ months, Mangal 1½ months, Guru for 13 months, Budha/Shukra for 1 month each but saturn stays for 30 months.
We can get rid of all the problems caused by Shani. Shani has tortured the deities too. Shri Ramchandra ji suffered exile of 14 month due to Shani, Ravan during Saadhesaati was invaded by Ramchandra Ji and was destroyed totally. Shani's Saadhesaati on Draupadi misguided her and caused her utter harsh words, she told Dhrutrastra's son a blind man's son and so the Pandava's had to suffer 13 years of exilement. Due to Saadhesaati Vikramaditya's family came to sixes and sevens. Such big a king had to do slavery. Several people had to suffer much tormentation.
Shani sitting at the 7th place from his place is always troublesome to a man's and a woman's life. Shani sitting at 4th/5th place causes trouble to education and issue side. Shani at 9th and 10th place causes obstacles to living (profession). A man suffers much under the dominion of Shani's Sadhesaati.
Shani is justice. He himself decides. All work is incomplete; the morsel of mouth is slipped (dropped/snatched) and mars the progress. There may be all opportunity but you can not take advantage of it. Shani creates disturbance and the atmosphere of unrest.

SAADHNA SAMAGRI (ARTICLES): Sidha Shani Taitisa Yantra, Shani Taitisa mala, Shani's ring (Challa), Shoe of a black horse.
THE METHOD: You are to do this ritual on Makar Sakranti. You arrange a black cloth, 1¼ Kg. black sesame, and mustard oil, Havankund if there is no Hawankund make a chauki (seat) by earth and burn fire with wood. First of all meditate on Surya and Shani (There will not be any influence of Shani on me and my family and we all lead a peaceful and happy life, Shani,s fury (Prakop) pacify from me and my horoscope.
After burning wood, establish Sidha Shani Taitisa yantra on the dish of Kansya/Silver and a black horse shoe and Shani's Challa (ring) too. Goes one offering mustard oil over them? Chanting Shani,s Mantra through Shani Taitisa Mala. Do this for 1¼ hrs. Goes one offering sesame during this ritual?
For 1¼ hrs goes one putting sesame in the fire completing repetition of 1/7/11 rosary like this.

Establish Shani yantra at home or flow in the flowing water. you can bury it in a ditch four feed deep in the court yard. Shani's rosary be established in chapal (Pooja kaksha) horse shoe be set at the main gate in U shap.
The articles of Hawankund be flown in flowing water Shani's ring can be worn in the middle finger. The ashes of Hawan (Sacrifices) must be collected. Whenever you get out from the house, apply it on the forehead or throat. It is for the good of your family, you do observe all this.
